Grace Mandala
A fresh white mandala design overlaid with the word GRACE in soft periwinkle blue. The color palette used in the mosaic artwork is light and airy, reminiscent of a heavenly sky, with a nod to the feathers of angel wings. I created this mosaic using stained glass, iridescent glass tile, glitter tile, vintage Czech crystal beads, Italian millefiori, glazed ceramic tiles, mirror, and a dichroic glass cabochon.

Garden of Four Rivers
Inspired by the hypnotic knotwork patterns found at the Alhambra, Granada, Spain, as well as traditional Arab garden plans, which typically included fountains and elongated water features. These water features were said to represent the 4 rivers — honey, milk, water, wine.
This mosaic was included in Glass In Bloom at Mooresville Arts, Mooresville, NC, and in Piecing It Together, Marietta, GA..

The Spider
We pretended not to notice.
That spider lurking up where the wall and ceiling meet.
It had been there for a while.
Nobody spoke of it.
Not wanting to bring attention to it.
Maybe if we ignored it, it would go away on its own.
It began spinning its web.
At first, it spun delicate strands.
Single strands.
The sunshine cast a shadowy image of just a few, jumbled gray lines across the wall, like the last few turns at pick-up sticks, or the mapped itinerary of a busy day in the city.
But pick-up sticks and busy days in the city are a thing of the past.
Now, all we have is this spider, spinning its web.
Creeping further down the wall, the web has grown into a sticky net.
Hovering.
Blotting out all but a few random specks of sun.
The spider has spun a thick silence.
